Overview

BGauge Race Dash 7-inch is a universal competition dashboard designed for CAN communication with standalone ECU systems including MaxxECU, ECUMaster, Megasquirt, Link, and others.

  • Up to 50 Hz data refresh for fast, accurate visualization
  • Built-in 20 Hz GPS module for speed and position
  • Easy configuration tailored to your needs
  • Programmable CAN button for custom functions
  • Programmable shift lights with adjustable brightness
  • Programmable overboost warning lamp
  • Battery charging indicator
  • Oil pressure warning indicator
  • Resistive touch screen — works with gloves
  • Adjustable LED brightness for different conditions

Safety

Important safety warning — read before installation.

  • All wiring and mounting must be done with the battery disconnected
  • Working on the electrical system with power on may damage the dash or vehicle wiring
  • All grounds and terminals must be properly tightened to avoid interference and instability
  • Installation by a qualified technician is recommended
  • Always use appropriately rated fuses and follow the wiring instructions

Pinout (GX16 connector)

The dash uses a GX16 connector with the following pinout:

  • Operating voltage: 7V – 35V
  • Recommended: 5A fuse on the power line
1 (green)
+12V power
2 (yellow)
CAN Low
3 (white)
CAN High
4 (brown)
GND (ground)

GPS antenna

The GPS antenna connects to the dash by screwing on the connector. Ensure the antenna has a clear view of the sky at the chosen mounting position.

Without direct visibility you may experience:

  • No GPS connection
  • Inaccurate or unstable GPS readings
  • Other unwanted results

CAN data parameters

The Race Dash reads and displays the following parameters from the ECU and vehicle sensors:

  • RPM
  • MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure)
  • AFR (Air-Fuel Ratio)
  • IAT (Intake Air Temperature)
  • CLT (Coolant Temperature)
  • Oil temperature
  • Injector pulse width
  • Ignition timing advance
  • EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperature)
  • TPS (Throttle Position)
  • Oil pressure
  • Fuel pressure
  • Battery / system voltage
  • Flex fuel / ethanol content
  • Gear
  • GPS speed or vehicle speed (configurable on display)

Dashboard settings

To enter the configuration menu:

  • Press the Settings button on the dash
  • The configuration screen opens — select ECU protocol (MaxxECU, ECUMaster, Megasquirt, Link, etc.)
  • Set CAN baud rate
  • Enable or disable GPS or vehicle speed source
  • Configure shift lights and other alarms
  • Adjust display and LED brightness
  • All changes are saved automatically when you exit the menu

Skins

The Skins option lets you customize the visual layout. Select a skin from the list — the display updates automatically. You can also navigate to the Info page from the Skins menu.

Note: Skin selection affects visual style only — not functionality or ECU synchronization.

Info page

The Info page shows read-only configuration details:

  • CAN communication status
  • Current ECU protocol
  • Programmable button CAN address
  • GPS signal CAN address (speed data sent to ECU)
  • Parameters on this page cannot be changed — reference only

ECUMaster setup

ECUMaster Classic — two connection options:

Variant A — BGauge CAN plug-and-play module: comes with ready-made connectors between ECUMaster Classic and the dash. No cutting or adapters required.

Variant B — Original ECUMaster CAN module: if you already have the OEM CAN module installed, connect the dash directly to the CAN bus. Configure the EMU Classic CAN module as shown in the PDF manual.

ECUMaster Black — full bidirectional CAN: receive ECU data (RPM, MAP, TPS, AFR, voltage, etc.) and send button actions to the ECU (Launch, Pit Limit, Boost Select). GPS speed can be sent back to the ECU. See PDF for step-by-step screenshots.

MaxxECU setup

Variant A — Default CAN stream: full CAN communication with all MaxxECU models using the default stream.

Variant B — Custom CAN stream: recommended for higher refresh rate and more parameters. Configure a custom stream in MaxxECU software — see PDF manual for details.

MegaSquirt setup

Fully compatible with MegaSquirt 3 and all variants (MS3, MS3X, MS3Pro EVO / Ultimate). Configure CAN broadcast in TunerStudio as described in the PDF manual.
